Silk Sonic opened the Grammy Awards with a spectacular, pyrotechnic-filled performance of “777” a day before yesterday (April 3). To begin the ceremony, Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars dressed up in glittering white outfits and performed with a full band and horn section. They also used James Brown’s “Get On Up” as an interpolation.
After a long, joke-filled campaign to get on the show, Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars made their TV debut as Silk Sonic at last year’s Grammys, singing “Leave the Door Open.” Because of the success of “Leave the Door Open” from their debut EP An Evening With Silk Sonic, they won all four awards they were nominated for: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song.
