The new single from Liz Phair’s forthcoming seventh studio album, Soberish, is “In There.”
Phair contemplates her own insecurity in the shadow of a new relationship in the simmering track, which comes with an animated lyric video.
Phair and Brad Wood, who previously collaborated with her on her critically acclaimed Nineties albums Exile in Guyville, Whip-Smart, and whitechocolatespaceegg, co-wrote and co-produced “In There” alongside the tracks on Soberish. Phair had previously unveiled three tracks from the album: “Good Side,” “Hey Lou,” and “Spanish Doors,” which had a music video released last month. Soberish, her first album in 11 years since Funstyle in 2010, will be released on June 4th by Chrysalis Records.
Phair said in a statement that she got the inspiration for Soberish from the Art Rock and New Wave music she listened to in art school.
Phair will tour with Alanis Morissette later this year in addition to launching her new album.
