Jennifer Hudson has unveiled an original track titled “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” which will be used on the forthcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect’s soundtrack.
Hudson, who will play Franklin in the film, co-wrote the song with Carole King, who also co-wrote Franklin’s 1967 classic “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” On the soaring tune, the duo collaborated with Jamie Hartman (Lewis Capaldi, Christina Aguilera), while Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas produced “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” which will be the lone original on the Respect soundtrack.
Respect will be released in theatres on August 13th, with the soundtrack following on the same day. Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Marlon Wayans, Tituss Burgess, and Mary J. Blige join Hudson in the cast.
