Neil Young And Crazy Horse are Collaborating on a New Album

Crazy Horse and Neil Young have started working on a follow-up to their 2019 album Colorado.

They are recording it in a barn in the Colorado mountains that’s fashioned after a barn that fell in the same area in the 1850s.

Colorado was Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s first album since longtime guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro retired. Nils Lofgren took his position, and his professional relationship with Neil Young extends back to the 1970 sessions for After the Gold Rush. In 1971, he also played in Crazy Horse for a short time when they unveiled their own album. Crazy Horse’s bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina have been with the band since its inception in 1968.

The new lineup performed a few shows in 2018 and 2019, and planned to tour American arenas in 2020 until the pandemic struck. Young hasn’t performed in public since Farm Aid in September 2019, but the annual charity event is back on September 25th with an in-person concert, and Young is on the bill. It’s uncertain if he’ll have any other shows at that time.
