Blackpink has announced the release of Blackpink the Movie in South Korea and Japan via Trafalgar Releasing and CJ 4DPlex. The film will be released in theatres globally on August 4th and 8th, marking the fifth anniversary of the K-pop quartet’s Square One project debut. On June 30th, tickets will go on sale.
Scenes focusing on each member of the group — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — will be featured in the film. “The Room of Memories,” which looks back on their last five years, “Beauty,” which displays images of each member, and “Exclusive Interviews,” which contains messages for their fans, are among the segments. Along with hit songs from the group, it will feature performance footage from 2021’s The Show and 2018’s In Your Area.
The film will be available in a variety of forms, including an extended three-screen system called ScreenX that uses the theater’s side walls, a multi-sensory experience called 4DX that mimics a live experience, and a mix of the two.
Blackpink debuted five years ago with Square One, which featured the songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Their debut studio album, The Album, was released in 2020, and it was accompanied by a virtual livestream concert called The Show. Rosé debuted her solo project R earlier this year, the second solo album from a Blackpink member after Jennie’s 2018 Solo album.
