ABBA is returning with the latest music after a 39-year break.
The Swedish supergroup will reunite on Friday for the first time in over four decades to perform in the so-called “ABBA Voyage,” where their new music will be premiered.
Yesterday, a website titled simply “ABBA Voyage” appeared on the internet, teasing fans.
The hologram show ABBA Voyage will debut in London, with a specially created theatre dedicated to the project. The four members of ABBA, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, will be projected as younger versions of themselves.
The projections, dubbed ‘ABBAtars,’ will be able to sing and converse with the crowd during live performances.
The longtime wait for new songs from the Swedish singers will be ended on Friday, September 3. The release of new music was initially postponed when rumors first surfaced in 2018, following the quartet’s announcement that they will produce new music after 35 years and release it in 2020. Due to the pandemic, this was also postponed.
In 2021, the supergroup will release five new tracks, according to Geoff Lloyd, host of the Reasons To Be Cheerful podcast.
Last month, ABBA’s “Gold” album became the first to spend 1,000 weeks in the UK Top 100, an achievement that took 19 years.
