‘JBDUBZ Vol. 9’, a future compilation by Juke Bounce Werk, has released an open call for submissions.
New and established artists, both known and unknown to the group, are invited to submit footwork, juke, and jungle-oriented songs for consideration by the Los Angeles-based imprint. All contributions must be received by October 1, 2021, at jbdubzsubmission@gmail.com, with the subject header ‘JBDUBZ9’.
Tracks are donated to the album, and any proceeds from donations will be utilized to cover the costs of the release, merchandise, and events.
‘JBDUBZ Vol.8’ featured artists such as Bored Lord, Nikki Nair, DJ Earl, and Tomu DJ, among others, and was listed in DJ Mag’s Bandcamp Essentials when it was released in December. The series began in 2014, with Jae Drago, Sonic D, and DJ Noir launching Juke Bounce Werk a year previously. Last year, the latter wrote an in-depth piece on the 160 movement and language’s appropriation of Black culture. The label, which was featured in DJ Mag’s August music columns, has a showcase at Music Center LA this Saturday, September 4th, with Jlin, DJ Clent, and DJ Corey on the bill.
