DUVAL TIMOTHY ALONG WITH ROSIE LOWE ANNOUNCED A NEW ALBUM ‘SON’

Rosie Lowe and Duval Timothy have revealed a new record. ‘Son’ will be delivered on November 12th.

Between 2019 and 2020, Timothy — a fine art graduate of Central Saint Martin’s college – recorded the new album in London and Free Town, Sierra Leone, the two cities where he is based. Lowe collaborated with the artist for a week in February of last year, bringing along friends Daniel Koroma, Kandeh Bangura, Tom Herbert, Coker, Valetine, and Chino Greene.

Musically, the album strongly nods to Lowe and Timothy’s love of choral music by stacking ovals and instrumentation, including piano harmonies, as well as heavily sampling. It’s influenced by concepts such as ‘true colors,’ identity, and social expectations of what it means to fit in.

Timothy will create a children’s book to complement the release, which will be released by the same label as the music, Carrying Colour. Last year’s album, ‘Help,’ featured Mr. Mitch, Lil Silva, Melanie Faye, Vegyn, and Twin Shadow, and followed his work on the score for Akinola Davis Jr’s short film, ‘Untitled.’
