In Bristol, Shall Not Fade is launching a new record store.
Kieran Williams’ label will open its doors to the public on Saturday, December 4th, with in-store launch activities planned for that day and the following weekend (10th December). Cinthie, Djoko, Black Loops, Kessler, Ejeca, Ell Murphy, Y U QT, and Killa P will all perform at the Motion after-party on the latter date.
Customers can anticipate the shelves to stock the label’s latest albums, as well as those on the team’s bass-oriented platform, Time Is Now, which is located on St Nicholas Street in Bristol’s Old Town area. However, the site’s goals go beyond just selling music and vinyl. Plant Works, a pop-up plant shop, will be placed in the building, and the team will provide free DJ training and three-month label management courses, with half of the spots going to young folks from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Once up and running, in-store soirees will form another key part of plans for the shop, including artists plucked from the Shall Not Fade roster, which has established itself as a home for jazz-infused, dusty house talent. For example, Jaymie Silk, who got the release schedule off to a sophisticated start this year with his ‘The Legend of Jack Johnson’ EP.
