Grimes’ newest endeavour is an ‘AI girl group’ titled NPC, which launched yesterday.
According to the news release, the team is comprised of “infinite members” who can be voted in or out, “save for core members such as the baby Warnymph.”
The group was named after what is considered to be a video game-related abbreviation, ‘non-playable character,’ and was founded on November 12. The girl group is a “vehicle for experimentation,” according to Grimes, with members available as “generative characters.”
“A Drug From God,” a collaboration between Grimes and DJ and producer Chris Lake, is her latest release with her newly created AI girl group. The single was unveiled today, with a release party planned for today at The Midway in San Francisco.
