Gudu Records has revealed that Indonesian DJ Aradea Barandana, also known as Dea, will unleash the EP ‘Glazer Drum’ on November 24.
Peggy Gou, a previous Mixmag cover artist, founded the label in 2019 and has since released work by DMX Krew, JRMS, and others. Because it’s the label’s eighth album, it’s also known as “GUDU008.”
Dea rose through the ranks of Indonesia’s Sun Down Circle collective to become one of the country’s most well-known DJs, with fans such as DJ Harvey, Mr. Scruff, and Gilles Peterson. After seeing Dea spin at Potato Head Beach Club in 2017, Gilles Peterson said he was the finest DJ he’d seen in a decade.
With the song ‘Glazer Drum’ in the forefront, this EP will be his most substantial compilation of solo work to date.
Dea includes Grigoris Nikolaou narrating the single ‘Zaria Sto Chaos’ and Gabber Modus Operandi’s Ican Harem voicing in ‘Mahfudzot’ as examples of an artist that appreciates collaborating. The EP concludes with a remix of ‘Mahfudzot’ by I:Cube, a French producer known best for trading remixes with Daft Punk in the 1990s.
The artwork for the EP was designed by South Korean Jee-ook Choi, who has also illustrated past Gudu Records releases ranging from Peggy Gou’s most recent tune, ‘I Go,’ to Maurice Fulton’s upcoming ‘Earth EP,’ due out in 2020.
Dea also shared a video of himself performing the song “Glazer Drum” on Instagram.
