RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan has revealed his first excursion into the world of comic books. Z2 Comics will release ‘Bobby Digital and the Pit of Snakes’ in May 2022.
The title alludes to the artist’s alter-ego, who made his debut in 1998 with the album ‘Bobby Digital in Stereo.’ The record, which was inspired by comics, included orchestral harmonies and experimental beats. The backstory of the major character is now being fleshed out extensively.
The book’s themes will revolve around the reader’s and Bobby Digital’s views of reality, with a psychological underpinning to the narrative. Not to mention a potentially perilous excursion involving a snake pit. The project is co-produced by Ryan O’Sullivan of White Noise Studio and Vasilis Lolos of Sound & Fury and will be released in both softcover and hardcover forms.
Cypress Hill, Machine Gun Kelly, and Major Lazer are among the musicians who have collaborated on graphic novels with the imprint. Meanwhile, it’s been called in for record tie-ins like The Doors, Anthrax, and Public Enemy, among others.
