A SPECIAL BLUE VINYL EDITION OF ‘TRON LEGACY’ SOUNDTRACK RELEASED BY DAFT PUNK

Daft Punk’s 2010 ‘Tron Legacy’ soundtrack has risen to the top of Billboard’s recent Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart thanks to the success of a new blue vinyl edition.

The record was recently reissued as a Target exclusive in a special blue and clear vinyl editions, and sales data shows that 94 percent of the 10,000 units sold between December 10th and 16th were physical copies. This is especially noteworthy given the current charts’ usual domination of digital sales and streaming numbers.

The album’s latest return to the top of the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, according to Billboard, was the soundtrack’s 11th total week at the top and it’s first since April 2011.

The soundtrack’s release follows Daft Punk’s announcement in early 2021 that they would be disbanding after 28 years as a pair.

‘After Daft,’ a new book slated to be released in 2023, will examine Daft Punk’s legacy and cultural impact.
