Machine Gun Kelly is no stranger to surprising his fans with unusual covers, and his newest release is a version of Frank Ocean’s popular 2011 hit song, “Swim Good.”
The Slim XX, Baze XX, and Omer Fedi-produced remake of Ocean’s techno-tinged hip-hop tune takes a more newly cut, rock approach, with Machine Gun Kelly’s voice ruminating the melancholy lyrics over a guitar-driven groove.
The music video has the “My Ex’s Best Friend” singer singing on a windy beach, with waves slamming on the rocks behind him.
MGK posted several multi-genre at-home videos to his YouTube account during the first few months of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, including “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna, “Champagne Supernova,” by Oasis, and “Misery Business” by Paramore, among others.
So far, 2022 has been kind to Machine Gun Kelly. The singer got engaged to Megan Fox earlier this month. The duo met in the spring of 2020 while filming the film “Midnight in the Switchgrass” in Puerto Rico.
