Kaskade and Deadmau5 Dropped ‘Escape’

After collaborating for the first time fourteen years ago, Kaskade and Deadmau5 are reuniting under the moniker Kx5. The duo released “Escape,” a dance-ready, progressive first single featuring Hayla, on Friday.

Deadmau5 told Dancing Astronaut that the tune is a “throwback to that kind of minimalistic approach to that melodic sing-songy house” from the early 2000s.

The collaboration venture has been in the works for years, and it just made sense for the duo.

The two performers teased the track on social media earlier this week, posting snippets of it. They wrote earlier this week, “This Friday we escape…”

Deadmau5 and Kaskade initially worked on the track “I Remember” in 2008, and then again on “Move for Me” from Kaskade’s 2014 LP, I Remember. This May, they’ll perform together at EDC Las Vegas. Hayla’s first song of the year follows last year’s collaborations with Friend Within on “Rescue” and Ben Nicky on “Where Were You.”
