WARP RECORDS ARTIST MIRA CALIX HAS PASSED AWAY

Mira Calix, an experimental artist and composer, has died.

Warp Records, where she formerly worked as a press officer and released the majority of her songs, revealed her death on social media.

Chantal Passamonte, a South African-born musician, had lived in the United Kingdom since the 1990s, most recently in Bedfordshire with her spouse. Her groundbreaking work was praised for combining and fusing electronic and classical sounds to construct her own symphonies.

‘One on One,’ her debut electronic album, was delivered to acclaim in 2000. She’s released six albums with Warp Records since that debut LP, the most recent of which is ‘a̶b̶s̶e̶n̶t̶ origin,’ which will be released in November 2021.

She was a maker of art installations and cinematography projects in addition to her musical endeavors, and she considered art as a way of life.

On social media, her friends, family, and admirers have all paid tribute to her great life and legacy.
