After ten years as a band, the jazz quintet Sons of Kemet are disbanding.
After completing their “Black To The Future” tour in 2022, the band will no longer perform as a band.
The South London quartet comprises saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, percussionists Edward Wakili-Hick, tubist Theon Cross, and Tom Skinner.
In addition to their performance on 6th June at the Barcelona-based festival Primavera Sound, their last shows will take place across July and August in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.
Sons of Kemet made the cover of Mixmag in 2021, where leader Shabaka Hutchings discussed free expression and the band’s third album, ‘Black To The Future.’
