Croydon residents are invited to Stormzy’s Christmas party.
The MC’s charity #Merky Foundation has confirmed a festive event for the South London borough on Friday, December 3rd, three months after confirming plans to extend his scholarship program for Black students at Cambridge University.
Croydon locals can get free tickets to the event, which are limited to four per household. Throughout the day, the event will be split into two-time slots, with the first half for those aged 4 and above and the second half for those aged 10 and above.
Stormzy’s #Merky Books project is distributing 500 copies of Superheroes: Inspiring Stories of Secret Strength, their first Stormzy-curated children’s book, as part of the event. Denzell Dankwah, the book’s illustrator, will lead drawing workshops for youngsters throughout the day, while performance poet Sophia Thakur, the book’s author, will perform during the evening event.
Since its inception in 2018, #Merky Books has supported numerous new writers from underrepresented backgrounds, with the second edition of its annual New Writers’ Prize announced late last year.
