A Joni Mitchell Tribute by Ellie Goulding, Brittany Howard, and Norah Jones at Kennedy Center Honors

On December 5th, there was a broadcast ceremony of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors which also premiered on CBS on Wednesday. Joni Mitchell was among the lot who were honored at the ceremony. This was the first time since 2016 that a president has attended the Kennedy Center Honors because President Joe Biden came to grace the occasion along with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden.

Songs were performed to honor Joni Mitchell, ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ was sung by Ellie Goulding, ‘Both Sides Now’ was performed by Herbie Hancock and Brittany Howard, Norah Jones did a mix of tunes, including “Help Me.” Brandi Carlile also sang “River.”

Mitchell tagged a photo on Instagram of herself arriving at the ceremony with statements from President Biden before the broadcast.
