Powder’s Thinner Groove record label has announced a new album by her band 5AM. ‘Pre ZZ’ will be released digitally on August 31st, followed by cassette and vinyl releases.
Fellow Japanese electronic musicians and long-time pals 5ive — one half of Cos/Mes — and multidisciplinary creative Andry are also part of the group.
Ten entirely new tunes are included, each of which is designed to be enjoyed differently on different platforms, according to the press release. There’s also a remastered edition of the group’s first song, ‘Today.’ ‘Loosing My Mind’ [sic], the first of the new tunes, was recorded through studio jams and remote work in 2020 and 2021, and it’s already available to play online.
‘Powder In Space,’ Powder’s 2019 mix for Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space, made DJ Mag’s top 25 compilations of the year.
