DJ Juba, a Berlin-based British-Nigerian, has announced the release of a new compilation honoring female producers from across the Global South. On April 1st, ‘The Assurance Compilation’ will be available.
‘The Assurance Compilation,’ which builds on Juba’s podcast and a documentary of the same name, focuses on promoting music performed by women across the world, not only in Europe and North America. The ten-track collection includes music from Kenya, Nigeria, Vietnam/Cambodia, Iran, Taiwan, Brazil, Namibia, and the Pacific Islands, with styles ranging from amapiano, vogue, and Vietnamese folk to house, techno, Baile Funk, and more.
Evehive from São Paulo, whose single is ‘Bravo Cunt’, and fellow Brazilian BADSISTA are among the artists featured on the album. Gina Jeanz, Sonia Calico, Maggie Tra, DJ IV, and others also have tracks on the compilation.
