On Wednesday (Nov. 17), Tom Morello confirmed the release of “The Atlas Underground Flood,” his second solo album for 2021. Nathaniel Rateliff, Jim James, IDLES, Ben Harper, Alex Lifeson, Kirk Hammett, X Ambassadors, Barns Courtney, Manchester Orchestra, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, and others are among the collaborators on the follow-up to October’s The Atlas Underground Fire, which will be released on December 3 via Mom + Pop Music.
The guitarist for Rage Against the Machine/Prophets of Rage debuted the new project with three new songs: the urgent “Human” with Courtney, the hard-rocking hip-hop soul jam “Hard Times” with Rateliff, Jim Jones, and Chipotle Joe, and the acoustic/electric song “Raising Hell” with Harper.
The Bruce Springsteen/Eddie Vedder collaboration on “Highway to Hell,” and also songs featuring Bring Me the Horizon, Phantogram, Chris Stapleton, Damian Marley, and Mike Posner, were among the highlights of the Fire album.
