Billy Idol’s 1984 song “Eyes Without a Face” has been covered by Angel Olsen.
The cover, which was co-produced by Adam McDaniel, takes a basic approach to the track, with Olsen’s filtered vocals set against synths and bright guitar.
The track will appear on Olsen’s forthcoming Aisles EP, which will be released on Friday, August 20th. She abandons her typical folk and country-influenced song writing in favour of Eighties covers for this project. Laura Branigan’s “Gloria,” Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s “If You Leave,” Men Without Hats’ “Safety Dance,” and Alphaville’s “Forever Young” are among the other songs on the EP.
The physical release of Aisles will take place on September 24th.
Olsen performed an acoustic rendition of their song “Like I Used To” with Sharon Van Etten on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month.
