At a memorial service in Long Island, New York on Monday 2nd August, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, Fat Joe, Busy Bee, LL Cool J, and Al B. Sure! were among those who paid homage to the late rapper Biz Markie, real name Marcel Theo Hall.
A private service was performed at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, dubbed ‘The Final Show.’ Following that, a public memorial was held to honour the famous hip hop pioneer. ‘Vapors’ (1988) and ‘Just A Friend’ (1989) are widely regarded as genre classics.
After being hospitalised in April 2020, the artist tragically died on July 16th, aged 57, from diabetic complications. In the same year, while in a coma, he had a stroke.
