The video for Rammstein’s forthcoming album’s title track, “Zeit,” is the strange and thrilling type that fans have come to expect from the German industro-metal band.
In reverse, there are scenes of people drowning, eerie wraith-like beings menacing kids in a fight, and band members delivering babies as the sands of time envelop them. Director Robert Gwisdek has created a visual feast for an epic ballad in the group’s signature style, while frontman Till Lindemann sings in German about wishing time would stop.
The album, Zeit, will be released on April 29 in a number of forms, including digipak CDs with 20- to 56-page booklets, and 180-gram vinyl. It will also be available digitally. The album, which will comprise 11 tracks produced by Olsen Invotini (who also worked on their previous, untitled album), will include a photo taken by Bryan Adams of “Cuts Like a Knife.”
The single “Zeit” is available on 10-inch vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Ólafur Arnalds’ atmospheric arrangement of the song, as well as Robot Koch’s remix, are among the B-sides.
When the pandemic prompted the band to postpone their European and North American tour dates until the spring and summer, they recorded Zeit. The short series of North American gigs will begin on August 21 in Montreal and conclude on October 4 in Mexico City. Between those dates, they’ll perform around the United States, including a two-night residency at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
