Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has unveiled the music video for “My Lucky Card,” a track from his forthcoming album Hardware, which will be released on June 4th via Concord.
Pappy and Harriett’s Pioneertown Palace, a prominent honky-tonk in Pioneertown, California (just outside Joshua Tree), where the video was recorded, was originally designed as part of a western film set (as seen on shows like The Cisco Kid and The Gene Autry Show). The clip begins in black-and-white, but gradually transitions to colour as Gibbons walks into the bar, shares a drink with the bartender, and then jumps onstage to play “My Lucky Card.”
Gibbons said in a statement that the performance in the video was shot in one take, though some unexpected work was required beforehand.
Gibbons has also posted videos for the Hardware cuts “West Coast Junkie” and “Desert High,” in addition to the one for “My Lucky Card.” Following 2018’s The Big Bad Blues, this is his third solo release. He co-produced the new album with Matt Sorum and Mike Florentino at Escape Studios.
