Moor Mother announced a new album, ‘Black Encyclopedia Of The Air’, which will released on 17th September through ANTI.
The artist, musician, poet, and activist, actual name Camae Ayewa has been divine by ideas round memory, marking, and the future. Ayewa described in an official announcement that the first single, ‘Obsidian’, which has just been revealed and features the rapper Pink Siifu, is a reaction to present dangers.
“Thinking about one’s proximity to violence. Thinking about violence in the home. Violence in communities,” she said.
‘Black Encyclopedia Of The Air’ was noted at the artist’s home in March 2020, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in the US, and was created with the help of sound artist and producer Olof Melander. The LP features input from Lojii, Elucid, Antonia Gabriela, Bfly and Yatta, with Black Quantum Futurism also attributed — the literary and artistic collective Ayewa establish with Rasheedah Phillips.
Ninja Tune announced a new album last month from decade-spanning UK electronic artist The Bug was on its way, with a collaboration with Moor Mother. In September 2020, she revealed ‘Circuit City’, an album and play focused on tenants of a fictional metropolis, dealing with race, sex, gender, ethnicity, and disability discrimination.
