Bonobo has revealed that his new album, ‘Fragments,’ will be released on Ninja Tune on January 14, 2022.
Jordan Rakei, O’Flynn, Kadhja Bonet, Joji, Jamila Woods, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson all make cameos on the album. The tracks were created from bits of ideas, which were subsequently experimented with and fused together, as the title suggests.
The first single from the full-length album, ‘Rosewood,’ has already been released, and it touches on UK bass, Detroit house and techno, soul, ambient, and sublime electronic balladry. Neil Krug created the artwork for both the album and the song. He previously provided the cover art for Bonobo’s previous album, 2017’s ‘Migration,’ which brought the producer around the world and saw him perform in front of 2 million people.
Along with the album, the three-time Grammy nominee has announced a world tour for next year, which will include three shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall in May. In the United Kingdom, he performs in Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, Leeds, and Nottingham; in Europe, he performs in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Cologne, and Zurich.
An extensive North American tour has been planned, with stops in Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Seattle, and Portland, among other cities.
Ninja Tune has made a series of huge album announcements recently. Coldcut has announced intentions for a massive ambient record starring Ryuichi Sakamoto, Julianna Barwick, Helena Hauff, and Skee Mask as producers. ‘Black Sands,’ by Bonobo, was included in DJ Mag’s list of albums that represented the 2010s.
