Richie Hawtin has confirmed a Plastikman collaboration with Chilly Gonzales, a Grammy-nominated composer, pianist, and vocalist.
On April 1, 2022, Turbo Recordings will release ‘Consumed In Key,’ with label boss Tiga listed as Executive Producer. The album features material from the landmark 1998 Plastikman album ‘Consumed,’ reimagined by the two artists. ‘Contain,’ the first single, has already been released.
When Gonzales first heard the original ‘Consumed’ around the 20th anniversary of its release, the project started to take shape. The musician set out to create piano-led counterparts to the tracks after being intrigued by the loose use of melody, unique time structure, and movement. Tiga suggested contacting Hawtin to see if a “sonic conversation” could be arranged after hearing the demos.
