Kanye West and Billie Eilish are said to be headlining this year’s Coachella Festival in California.
Both headliners are expected to perform alongside already announced top-billed act Swedish House Mafia on the weekends of April 15-17 and 22-24.
Despite the fact that Coachella has yet to make a formal announcement, insiders told Variety earlier this week that both artists had been confirmed. Billie and Kanye will appear on Saturday and Sunday nights, respectively, according to the magazine.
If the claims are true, Coachella 2022 will be a turning point for the festival, with Billie Eilish being the event’s youngest-ever headliner, as well as her headline slot at Glastonbury 2022, when she will also be the youngest ever headliner.
Kanye’s previous appearance at Coachella was more than a decade ago. In 2011, the rapper performed on the main stage with Pusha-T, Bon Iver, and Mike Dean as special guests.
Coachella posted a mysterious post on Instagram in October, implying that the Swedish House Mafia might also be performing at this year’s festival, though this has yet to be confirmed.
Typically, the festival leaves one of its top slots for an old-timer, keeping the “throwback” slot open for the likes of Radiohead, Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC, and OutKast.
Rage Against The Machine were also rumored to be performing this year after their appearance on Coachella’s 2020 lineup was deferred due to COVID.
Travis Scott has withdrawn off this year’s Coachella line-up after November’s Astroworld tragedy, although the rapper was later rescheduled after the previous two events were canceled outright.
