Megadeth have revealed the title of their new album, “The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead.”
Frontman Dave Mustaine performed a snippet of the album’s namesake song while making a basic mix on a Protools rig in a Cameo birthday message to a fan. He walked out before the song fully kicked in, leaving only a two-note bluesy on a single guitar that resolves in a bluesy fashion.
In a 2019 Rolling Stone interview, Mustaine teased the music on “The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead.” He said the band had “nine really crushing songs” at the time, and listed three potential song titles: “The Dogs of Chernobyl,” which he compared to the band’s Dystopia album musically, “Faster Than Anything Else,” and “Rattlehead, Part Two.” He also stated that he was encouraging David Ellefson, the band’s bassist at the time, to write a track for the album that would highlight his abilities.
Following reports that the bassist had been grooming a fan, the band announced in May that it would be “officially parting ways” with Ellefson. Ellefson has refuted the allegations and met with cops to file charges against those he claims created the rumour.
