Montaigne, an Australian pop singer, has teamed up with David Byrne on her upbeat new single “Always Be You.”
“Always Be You” depicts the exhilarating throes of new love with heart-thumping percussion and dizzying synths. Montaigne and her partner Pat star in the song video, which was directed by Nick Ward and has Byrne beaming in via an old-school television set.
Byrne said in a statement that Montaigne asked him about working and that it was an easy decision after listening to her songs.
“Always Be You” is Montaigne’s first proper song of 2022, after “Now (In Space),” which she released in 2021. Complex, her most recent album, was unveiled in 2019.
In terms of Byrne, he’s been busy with the Broadway production of American Utopia, which is set to end on April 3rd. His next step will be the debut of his long-awaited immersive theatre experience, “Theater of the Mind,” which will run from August 31 to Dec. 18 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Off-Center.
