‘Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You)’ is a Morrissey Spoof Song Released by the Simpsons

The Simpsons have unveiled “Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You),” a song from their latest episode mocking Morrissey, as an official single.

The episode, titled “Panic on the Streets of Springfield,” aired in April and featured Lisa falling in love with Quilloughby (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch), a brooding, militant vegan British musician who used to front a band called the Snuffs. Quilloughby appears to Lisa as an imaginary friend at first, causing her to adopt a more world-weary and sardonic demeanour; but, when Lisa attends a concert featuring the real Quilloughby and the Snuffs, she is shocked to discover that he has transformed into a boorish, meat-eating xenophobe.

Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords co-wrote several spoof songs that were scattered in the episode. They featured “Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You),” which is attributed to Quilloughby and is available on all major streaming platforms, as well as “Hamburger Homicide” (a nod to the Smiths’ “Meat Is Murder”) and “How Late Is Then?” ” (a nod to “How Soon Is Now?”).
