In a new video released on social media networks, Flume announced a collab with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn.
The video, titled ‘Flume — 2022,’ contains an ambient soundtrack and Albarn’s inimitable vocal style, and is the first taste fans have had of the pair’s collaborative works, which the latter initially revealed in 2019. The footage fits the song in terms of visuals, with rich tropical landscapes and rainforest noises complimenting waves of synth and drone.
This is the most recent indication of a re-energized Flume. Last year, the Australian electronic producer and Grammy nominee for 2021 released his remix of Danny L Harle’s ‘On A Mountain,’ which was his first new material in over a year at the time. A new collection of original music in the form of a third full-length album has also been announced for 2022, though no precise release date has been specified. In 2020, the artist came up about drug and alcohol misuse in an honest interview for the ‘My Friend Podcast’ series, and also put out an open call for ‘corona collabs,’ which are remote collaborations that may be made during COVID-19 lockdowns.
