For a new BBC Radio 6 show, Four Tet has delved into the record collection of famous radio host John Peel.
The London producer, whose real name is Kieran Hebden, was invited to join Tom Ravenscroft, the eldest of the late Peel’s two sons, on Peel Acres. John Peel, a veteran DJ who found dozens of great bands over the course of a 40-year career, died in 2004 at the age of 65.
Hebden was invited to choose six recordings from Peel’s collection of over 120,000 albums for the event, which has previously featured guests such as Damon Albarn and Nabihah Iqbal. Caleb, The 13th Floor Elevators, and Nirvana were among the musicians who were tracked by the London producer.
Four Tet and Burial’s cult-favorite joint tracks ‘Moth’ and ‘Nova’ were officially released digitally for the first-time last week.
After signing a publishing contract with Universal Music Group earlier this month, some Four Tet albums were re-released on streaming services.
