On the latest album, “The Gathering,” featuring Jason Isbell and Muse drummer Dom Howard, Frank Turner envisions the first concerts since Covid-19 lockdown.
With Turner bellowing over pounding drums and soaring glam rock riffs, “The Gathering” is appropriately arena-sized from the outset. The track (produced by Rich Costey) ends with Isbell unleashing the mightiest guitar solo he can muster.
Turner also confirmed a series of outdoor shows in the United Kingdom this summer, in addition to the release of “The Gathering.” Turner will headline the events, which will be one-day festivals with support from Xtra Mile Recordings artists Skinny Lister, Johnny Lloyd, Pet Needs, Ducking Punches, Non Canon, Deux Furieuses, Berries, Guise, and Semantics. Depending on Covid-19 safety legislation at the time, lineups will differ across dates, and shows will change to allow for socially distant attendance or maximum capacity. Turner’s website has a complete list of dates, and tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 7th.
