Garbage Shared the Title Track ‘No Gods No Masters’ From Their New Album

Garbage have unveiled a new song called “No Gods No Masters” from their upcoming album of the same name, which will be released on June 11th through Stunvolume/Infectious Music. The song is accompanied by a Scott Stuckey-directed music video.

According to a statement, frontwoman Shirley Manson was motivated by a trip she took to Santiago, Chile, during the country’s recent demonstrations against corruption and inequality.

Manson said in a statement that she was stunned by the graffiti scrawled over old statues and museums while driving around Chile, before one of her guides checked her and asked why she was more shocked by the harm being done to buildings and monuments than actual people. “That was like a slap in the face,” Manson said, adding that the remark reminded her of attempts in the US to remove Confederate monuments.

Garbage’s seventh album, No Gods No Monsters, will be their first since Strange Little Birds of 2016. The album will be released in a deluxe edition on June 12th, with previously released rarities such as their 2013 cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Patti Smith hit “Because the Night,” which featured Screaming Females, and their 2018 stand-alone track “Destroying Angels,” which featured X’s John Doe and Exene Cervenka.
