GORILLAZ CELEBRATE 20 YEARS SINCE THEIR DEBUT ALBUM WITH A REISSUE AND NFT TEASERS

Gorillaz’ self-titled debut album turned 20 on March 26th, and the band has teased several upcoming releases to commemorate the occasion.

On March 26, 2001, the animated band, led by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, delivered their debut album. The album was the project’s first release, and it includes some of their most well-known songs, such as “Clint Eastwood” and “19-2000.” The album debuted at No. 3 in the UK charts and has since been certified platinum, with 974,311 copies sold over the last two decades.

To celebrate the occasion, the virtual band has teased some exciting stuff for 2021, including a reissue of the record, which will be released later this year as the first in a series of re-releases from their back catalog.

Gorillaz has also teamed up with Superplastic (collectibles brand) to release limited-edition vinyl toys and NFT digital art collectibles featuring all four members of the band: 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel. This comes after the band launched a series of toy figurines last year.

G Foot, Gorillaz’s clothing line, will relaunch in 2021, with a brand new range expected to drop during the year.

Last year, it was announced that an official Gorillaz film was in the works, but no further details have been released.
