In the video for the new single “Industry Baby,” which features Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X breaks free from prison. Take a Daytrip and Kanye West collaborated on the single.
The rapper is sentenced to five years in Montero State Prison in the Christian Breslauer-directed video written by Lil Nas X, but he makes the best of his time there by working out and dancing in the shower and in the prison yard. Harlow delivers a verse and a pickax to an escape plan by sneaking one into a book.
Lil Nas X announced his partnership with The Bail Project, a nationwide nonprofit group dedicated to ending cash bail, along with the release of the video.
Lil Nas X teased the song with a video that depicted him “on trial,” a satire of the ongoing legal saga over his Satan shoes. Both “Industry Baby” and his previous two songs, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Sun Goes Down,” will be featured on Lil Nas’ impending debut album Montero, though no release date or tracklist has been announced. Montero is the follow-up to Lil Nas X’s 7 EP, which was released in 2019.
