In the new music video for her current song, “Player of Games,” Grimes faces the evil Dark King.
Grimes served as the creative director of the video which was directed by Anton Tammi and she also wrote the story used. Andrei Pishchalnikov plays the role of the Dark King in the sci-fi fantasy video which is centered around Grimes and the Dark King. In the clip, the duo seems to have had a past relationship, but are now engaged in perpetual warfare where they are seen coming at each other with lightsabers.
In early December, Grimes launched “Player of Games” where she portrayed it in a usual Grimes fashion – by inputting lines of binary code that were defined in the song’s title. The song which shows Grimes’ collaboration with Illangelo, is featured in the latest season of ‘Rocket League’ video game.
Grimes’ first real single since the release of her 2020 album, Miss Anthropocene, is “Player of Games.” At the end of September, she shared a short song called “Love” on social media, which Grimes described as a reaction to “the privacy invasion, negative publicity, internet abuse, and harassment” she had been subjected to following her divorce from Elon Musk.
