Burna Boy has launched a vibrant music video for his track “23” from his upcoming album Twice as Tall, which was released in 2020.
The video, directed by Clarence Peters and produced by Skread, comprises several references to basketball player Michael Jordan, whose jersey number gave the number “23” its name. In honor of Women’s History Month, Burna Boy pays tribute to Jordan as an icon for pursuing and achieving one’s dreams through several characters with lofty goals: an aspiring basketball player who was born wheelchair-bound, a young singer-songwriter, a dancer, and a music producer.
Burna Boy and Becky G teamed up on the single “Rotate” last month. He also worked with Sia on the song “Hey Boy,” which was included on her album Music – Songs From and Inspired by the Motion Picture.
Burna Boy’s fifth studio album, “Twice as Tall,” was released in August of 2020. The album won Best Global Music Album at the Grammys in 2021. “20:10:20,” his most recent one-off solo single, is inspired by the Lekki massacre in Lagos, Nigeria, in which security forces fired shots on peaceful protesters protesting police brutality.
