Iron Maiden’s New Animated Video “Stratego” Features Warring Clans Fighting an Epic Battle

Iron Maiden has unveiled a new animated video for the song “Stratego,” which appears on their latest album, “Senjutsu.”

The “Stratego” video, directed by Swedish director Gustaf Holtenäs, incorporates some of the album’s Japanese themes (“Senjutsu” translates to “strategy” or “tactics”). The film is set in ancient Japan and revolves around two warring clans. The epic story follows a dark side skeleton soldier who is killed while battling the light side but is resurrected as a human and then as a dragon. However, when the dragon travels to confront his former master, he is slaughtered yet again in an unexpected twist.

Iron Maiden’s Senjutsu was released on September 3rd, despite the fact that it was recorded in 2019 at Guillaume Tell Studios in Paris with longtime producer Kevin Shirley. The album is the band’s 17th studio album and their first since 2015’s “The Book of Souls.”
