Saffron, a Bristol-based organization, has announced the specifics of its second annual 7 Days Of Sound event, which aims to bring together women, non-binary people, and trans people working in music technology.
7 Days Of Sound, which debuted in 2021, will return this month with a series of seminars focusing on tech training and career counseling, with the goal of catering to people of all backgrounds, genres, and degrees of experience.
With the Indiana artist, Jlin will offer a workshop titled “Versatility & Vulnerability.”
Anu will conduct a session on ‘Radio with Personality’ on the fourth day of workshops, in which the NTS and BBC Asian Network will share personal insights and ideas from her time as a broadcaster. Daisy Moon and Em Williams, both of Bristol, will deliver a session on how to self-promote, network, and generate mixes, radio shows, and other creative content as part of the Mix Nights program, which aims to encourage emerging women, non-binary, and trans folk in learning to DJ.
Rachel K Collier will speak about sound design and how she produced inventive sound design techniques using Ableton. The musician is acknowledged for bringing knowledge of her multi-instrument technical setup, which allows her to play her song-focused, high-energy studio productions live.
Saffron uses a recent Annenberg report to launch 7 Days Of Sound, which found that fewer than 5% of the music tech business is made up of women, non-binary or trans people, and less than 1% of them are people of colour. Saffron was established in 2015 with the goal of empowering and supporting marginalized groups in the music business.
