Jumping Back Slash’s new song “A Map of the Hills I Chose to Die On” is available now on Swak Catalog, and it’s derived from the album “A Map of the Hills I Chose to Die On,” which features eight tracks of experimental tones based upon “loss and quixotic battles against giant enemies.”
The song, ‘Wotuno,’ has been released online with its own animated video, which the British-born South African producer describes as a “weirdo amapiano/bacardi something or other hybrid.” The complete album is also available and can be purchased digitally through Bandcamp.
This year is seeing the explosion of Amapiano, a South African-born house music variant, which has influenced everything from DJ Mag cover star DJ Lag’s latest track to Cooly G’s recent Hyperdub EP, with artists like Mr Jazziq, Major League DJs, and Gaba Cannal trying to push the sound well beyond its homeland’s borders.
