Loraine James has revealed the details of her upcoming album, “Reflection,” which will be released on Hyperdub on June 4th.
Loraine James’ first album for Hyperdub, ‘For You And I,’ was a glitchy, frenetic affair. ‘Reflection’ will be her third full-length album overall.
‘Reflection’ shows more of James’ drill and R’n’B listening patterns but pares it right back to the bone. The album was inspired by the abrupt halt of 2020, which James took particularly hard. She retreated to her studio, unable to tour, and began to process her feelings through music.
On ‘Reflection,’ Loraine James enlists the aid of new collaborators such as Le3 bLACK, Eden Samara, Iceboy Violet, Xzavier Stone, Nova, and Baths.
‘Reflections’ is the follow-up to James’ 2020 Hyperdub EP ‘Nothing,’ which saw her issue an internet appeal for collaborators and create a pop-tuned EP from it.
