Solar Power, Lorde’s long-awaited third album, will be released on August 20th through Republic Records.
The album’s announcement comes just a few weeks after Lorde unveiled the album’s title single, which was her first new music since her last album, Melodrama, in 2017. Lorde and frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff co-wrote and produced “Solar Power,” with Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers providing background vocals.
Due to its environmental inspiration, Lorde will release Solar Power without a CD, instead providing listeners with a “eco-conscious Music Box,” as detailed in a press release. Extra visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive images, and a download card with two bonus songs and other surprises will be included in the collection.
Along with the album’s announcement, Lorde also announced dates for a world tour in support of Solar Power. The North American leg will begin on April 3rd, 2022, at the Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, and conclude on May 7th, 2022, at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, California. Tickets will be available on June 25th at 10 a.m. local time, with presale tickets available to fans who sign up for Lorde’s email list.
