Lorde unveiled her new single “Solar Power” with a music video on Thursday evening, timed with the solar eclipse, and revealed her highly awaited third album of the same name.
“Solar Power,” her first new music since 2017, is a track she co-wrote and co-produced with Jack Antonoff that sounds perfect for relaxing on the beach. It sounds similar to George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” and Antonoff’s production on St. Vincent’s last album, Daddy’s Home which was unveiled last month, with its acoustic guitar, bongo drumming, and groovy vibes.
Lorde collaborated on the music with Joel Kefali (the same director who worked on her “Royals” video from 2013), and the footage features the pop star playing in the sand with her friends in New Zealand.
