Due to the Putin-led invasion of Ukraine, Louis Tomlinson will miss stops in Ukraine and Russia during his world tour this summer, he stated on social media Monday.
On July 4, the “Always You” singer was scheduled to play at Kyiv’s Stereo Plaza and on July 6 at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall.
Tomlinson’s announcement comes amid increasing tensions in Eastern Europe, following Russian soldiers’ invasion of Ukraine last week. The invasion has been blamed on Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has faced economic penalties from the United States, Europe, and other countries throughout the world.
On February 1, the “Defenceless” singer began his Louis Tomlinson World Tour, which will take him across the United States until mid-March, before traveling to Europe in April and Latin America in the summer.
Green Day also cancelled a concert in Moscow on Sunday. On May 29, they were scheduled to perform. Peter Gabriel also postponed a gig in Ukraine that was supposed to take place last weekend.
Due to the war, Russia’s national team was forbidden from participating in FIFA and UEFA soccer competitions, and Russia was also withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest.
