Michael Diamond’s debut album, ‘Third Culture,’ will be released this summer on Vasuki Sound.
‘Third Culture’ combines “ethereal jazz-breaks, introspective 2-step, sax-driven power ambient and world-building, story-telling electronica” over the course of seven tracks. The debut album by the Kerala-born, Oxford-based DJ and producer also delves into the complications of being a “third culture kid,” someone who was raised in a culture other than their parents’.
‘Third Culture’ is complemented by a short story written by Áine Kim Kennedy, a Korean-Irish friend of Diamond’s.
‘Third Culture’ will be dropped on June 7th, following Diamond’s Salin Records’ ‘Silk Road’ EP from last year. He’s a resident at Oxford’s Simple club night, where he’s previously performed with Batu, Ben UFO, and Shanti Celeste, and received praise from Gilles Peterson and Butterz’ Elijah.
