Mitski Released ‘Heat Lightning,’ an Ode to Insomnia

“Heat Lightning,” Mitski’s haunting ode to insomnia, has been released.

“Heat Lightning,” a tune from her forthcoming album “Laurel Hell,” is accompanied by a lyric video created by Alex Moy. Over haunting instrumentation, it displays bizarre sceneries ranging from floating furniture to rising glaciers.

After “The Only Heartbreaker,” co-written with Dan Wilson, and “Working For the Knife,” comes “Heat Lightning.” Her sixth studio album, Laurel Hell, is due out on February 4th on Dead Oceans.

In the new year, Mitski will embark on a sold-out tour to promote Laurel Hell, which will take off on February 17 in Asheville, North Carolina. Before traveling to Europe, she’ll perform in key locations like Austin, Texas (ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Feb. 26) and New York City (Radio City Music Hall on March 24).
